There was a very large attendance at the sales, buyers being present from Timani, Wainiate, Oamaru, and Clinton, as well as graziers and farmers from the surrounding districts; also from Macraes, Middlemarch, and Palmerston. The sheep offered wore in excellent condition, and for all classes there was a splendid demand. Good lines of wethers and fine young ewes met a particularly good sale, and prices realised were very satisfactory to sellers. Lambs al?o met a good sale. We sold four-tooth withers at 12s lid, do at 12a 6d to 12s Id, crossbred lambs at 9s 4d, full-mouthed ewes at 10s sd, brokenmouthed do at 7s Md, two-tooth ewes at 11s 3d. Owing to the inclemency of the weather there was not a very large attendance, but the bulk ol those present were intent on business, and the result was one of the beat sales ever held in Central Otago. The flock was composed entirely of ewes and lambs,, and as they were well bred and "in capital condition they exactly fitted the demand, which is at present very keen for this class of stock. Cattle and horses also brought full market rates'. The following are the prices realised:—2sß four-tooth ewes at 13s; 405 six and eight-tooth ewes, principally eight-tooth, 12s 9d; 621 lamb 3, 9s 4d; broken and unbroken light horses, £10 to £15 ; mixed cattle at satisfactory prices. Sheepskins.—Moderate catalogues were submitted on Tuesday, and a .better demand was i experienced than has lately been the case, all lots finding ready buyers at a slight advance. Rabbitskins.—The quantity offering is small, but the trade soon absorb all lots at full market values. Hides.—The demand is good, and it is not difficult to place all coming to hand at lull rates. . . Fat and Tallow.—These are also experiencing some extra competition, and prices have hardened considerably. Grain.—Wheat: There'is good, fair demand for "prime" lots of velvet and Tuscan at 2s 5d to 2s 6d (extra prime quality sometimes a little more); other sorts not in request at 2s ; 2d to 2s 4d; fowls' wheat, la lid to 2s Id (de- ' mand fair). Oats: Demand is equal to the supply in the meantime, and best samples are selling at 2s to 2s o£d; ektra milling (Sutherlands) up to 2s Id; medium to good, Is lOd to Is llj-d. Barley: Pending arrival of samples of the new crop 'business is limited to small lots for milling purposes. Prime malting, nominally, worth iabout 3s. Potatoes.—No Derv.-ents yet in the market. Kidneys suffered.a decline, and may be quoted to-day at up to £2 10s, with limited demand. Chaff.-i-Market not too heavily supplied with -prime quality, and, if really well cut, sound and heavy, can be readily placed at £3; medium to good, £2 10s to £2 15s; other sorts hard to sell at, say, £1 to £2 ss. ' Grass Seed.—Samples of new crop are coming to hand, but sales are not yet numerous, as quality is not up to usual standard.- Buyers are offering Is to la 4d, according to quality, for farmers' lots. Market is hardly yet established, but so far indications point to low prices, with slow demand.
