LAND BOARD.
The weekly meeting of the Land Board was held at the Land Office yesterday, and was attended by the- Chief Commissioner (Mr J. P. Ma'tland), and Messrs Clark, Dallas, Duncan, and Kirkpatrick. F. M'Bride wrote re runs 10 and 32, Wakatipu.—Consideration deferred. Todd Bros, and Co. applied for a lease over one acre of quarry reserve, section 21, block IV, Greenvale, upon which to erect a rabbit freezer. —Referred to the ranger to report. M'AUister Bros., on behalf of P. T. Boys, applied for a lease of two acres on same section for a similar purpose.—Referred to the ranger for re, port. The Receiver of Laud Revenue having reported that Alex. Gordon, whose small grazihe run, No. 278, was forfeited, had since paid all (incurs, it was resolved to rescind resolution declaring same forfeited. Ranger Atkinso'n reported upon complaint by Thos! "stnvley against the Macraes Mining Committee, re working of mining reserve held by them under iiceuse; also Stavley's application for license over part of the reserve.—Application declined. R. L. M'Latchie wrote re capital value of see■tion 23, block 11, Cntlins, and valuation for improvements upon the same.—Board cannot see its way to make any reduction. Ranger Hushau reported on application by J. Abernethy that section 5, block XIII, PomahakaDowns, is being overrun with Scotch and Californian thistle.—Received. Hangdr Hughan rcportAl on application by Aii"us M'Donald for license to occupy sections--9 and 10, block X, Town of Kelso.—To bo added to license already granted applicant at a rental of 2s 6(1. The following applications to surrender were referred to the ranger for report:—Christopher Owyn, section 32, block IV, Glenomaru; John Peterson, section -1, block VI, Woodland._ Ranger Husrhau reported on complaint made by Mrs C. Cameron and John Robertson re cattle trespassing at Waipahi.—Action of ranger approved. Jas. R. Smith applied for reduction of rental on sections 37 and 43, block I, Naseby, held by yearly license, on account of damage done by mining, and asked for a better tenure over the land.—Consideration deferred. Ranger Atkinson reported on the application by Tonkin and Co. for-license to occupy section 13, block V, Blackstone— Yearly license granted at rental of £5, with usual license fee. The following were referred to tue ranger for report:-Application by Alex. Robertson for grazing ri»ht over block 11, Town of "Waipdii; application by John Burnett for license, to op-: cupy block V, Town of "Waipahi; application by J. F. Robertson to occupy the unsold land in block I, Town of Waipalii. _ ' - The Receiver of Land Revenue was authorised to pay over to the persons entitled to receive the same the amounts paid as valuation for improvements on the following lands:—Sections 2 and 3, block V; part 12, block IX, section 11, block IX; section 17, block X, Teviot, amounting to £207 10s; also run 129, S3 9s Gd. It wns resqlvid to alter the boundaries- of. runs 51 and 51b, in south-eastern corner, in the manner suggested by the ranger, rents and areas to be altered accordingly.'
The Commissioner of Crown Lands was authorised to take such steps us he may find necessary to put Mr , Rhode 3: in possession of section 12,: block XI, TaUtuku, which was grained him by the hoard oil November 1, 1899. It was retoU-ed to appoint Mr "W. Robertson auctioneer to sell sections tit Clyde on March 2.
