THE FLORAL FETE.
Arrangements are already being energetically pushed forward for the floral fete in aid of the contingent fund; The demonstration by school children, which is to form a feature I of the day's entertainment, is being so cordially taken up that it has'assumed immense dimensions, and it is probable that a choir of 1400 children will take part in the proceedings. A cycle team to contribute a musical ride is being organised by Mrs "Woodhouse, and this will certainly prove an attractive item. A large number of foundry 1 masters and factory proprietors have signified j their intention of complying with the request I of the City Council that a holiday bo obi served from, noon on the day of the fete, and there is every likelihood that its observance will be general. The committee has approached the Railway department with an application for excursion rates in the trains, so that country visitors may have an opportunity of at once " assisting" at the fete arid thus augmenting the contingent funds, and also of seeing in their camp the members of the contingent and their horses.
