MEETINGS AND ENTRTAIN.MENTS.
The annual summoned meeting of .the Loyal Dunedin Lodge, M.U., was held in.the )odg« room the other evening. There was a largo attendance.of the members and visitors;' N.G Bro. P. Chisholm presided. The following brothers were elected to fill the various offices for the ensuing term : -Cr.M., Bro. P. Chisholm; N.G., Bro. S. S. Aburn; Y.G.,. Bro G Crosbie; P.S. Bro. A. Pulton; E.S., Bro. V L Treivem; R.S. and L.S. to N.G., PGA M'Douga land Bro. F. Lambeth; E.S. 'and L.S. to V.G., Bros. 11. D. Stills and J R. W; warden, Bro. C. Campbell; guardian; -Bro A. Lawson. In moving that the hu'anca sheet and auditors' report be adopted. P P G M Bro C. Brundell referred in-eulogistic terms to the position in which' the finances of the lodge now stand. Prom the balance sheet we take the following items, which are worthy oi 1 ei7? m"naeemellt fund has .increased by £16 10s, and now stands at .-6281. The sick and funeral fund, after paying £253 for sick benefits alone, shows a gain for the year of £003, and now totals £9182. The balance to the No. 1 and No. 2 surplus funds'stands at £1125 and £806 respectively. Through members seceding from the order and other causes the sum of £213 has reverted from these funds to the sick and funeral fund. The lodge has profited in interest alone by the sum of £616. The total lodge funds now amount to £11,621 of which £11,325 is lent on mortgage, which gives an increase for the year of £573. The membership, which now stands at 247, shows an increase of 15 for the year. It was unanimously resolved that a hearty vote of thanks and conndenoe be passed to the lodge trustees and entered in the'minutes for the very able'manner in which they had attended to the interests of the lodge in the past. Senior trustee Bro. W. Harrop suitably responded to the vote. The receipts for the evening amounted to £166 Is--sd.
The meeting" of the Alliance Lodgeiat South Dunedin, oil Wednesday evening, when the. Pioneer and Hope of Caversham Lodges visited officially, was largely attended. On the Pioneer Lodge being received, the Chief Templar invited the Grand Secretary (Bro. D. C. Cameron) to preside. Correspondence was received from the Guiding Star Juvenile Temple, the District Lodge, and the Grand Lodge. Tho cake and confectionery festival was po'stnoned. also the election of delegates to the District Lodged The vote to tho visitors was responded to by Bro. limes (Chief of tho Pioneer), Bro, Thorn (Hope of Caversham), Bro. SnOw (Stai of •Roslyii), Bro. Ewmg (Hope of Dunedin), and Bro. Moffat (Star of Freedom). Harmony being called, the following contributed: — Songs, Bros. Rogers, M'Farlane, Wilkins, and Sis. M'Farlane; pianoforte selections, Sia. M'Farlane, sen., and Bro. Himmel; recitation, Bro. Gray. A vote of thanks to Bio. Cameron for presiding, anel Sis. M'Farlane for acting as accompanist/ was passed and responded to.
