(Per United Pkess Association.) AUCKLAND, December 9. At Taupo, before Colonel Roberts, S.M., a case Gallagher v. the Bank of New' Zealand was heard. This was a claim to recover £15 14s for board and lodging supplied and services rendered to one of the bank's employees while suffering from severe iM'ess. It appeared from the evidence that the solicitors to the defendant, bank had notified -^to plaintiff in writing that unless he discontinued his action, they" would defend the same, and that'he (the petitioner) would be saddled with heavy costs. Gallagher, however, had taken no' notice of this lettei-. Judgment was'given for plaintiff for £15 14s and cosH (£2 3s' 6d). .
WELLINGTON, December 10. The late x Captain Anderson was buried to-day with military 'honours. There was a large attendance of the permanent forces, volunteers, and civilians.. A strong northerly gale accompanied by very heavy rain raged last' night, ' but cleared off to-day.
TIMARU, December 9. The Timat'u A. and P. Association approve of a reduction in the weight of sacks of grain to 2001b, 12 months' notice to be given of any legislation on the subject.
