Election. Notices. DUNE DI N CITY ELECTION. TO THE ELECTORS. LADIES AND GENTLEMEN,— TO-MORROW (WEDNESDAY) you will have your Triennial Opportunity of RETURNING THREE PARLIAMENTARY REPRESENTATIVES for the CITY OF DUNEDIN. This is at all times a Responsible Duty, and I feel confident that you will realise the Trust placed in your hands that day. As you are already aware, I AHA CANDIDATE FOR YOUR SUFFRAGES, and have Addressed 13 Meetings in the various parts of the Electorate. Amongst the Subjects I have brought more particularly under your notice are the EDUCATION QUESTION, LAND REFORM, the FUTURE BORROWING POLICY of the COLONY, the PROPER INCIDENCE OF TAXATION, ADVANCES TO SETTLERS ACT, the REFORM of the LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL, the FINANCES of the COLONY, OLD-AGE PENSIONS DAIRY, DREDGING, and QUARTZ MINING, and last, but not least, the LOCAL WANTS OF THIS IMPORTANT ELECTORATE. As you are aware, I have emphasised the fact at all toy Meetings that I am an INDEPENDENT LIBERAL, and am prepared to SUPPORT MY PRINCIPLES relating to the above questions INDEPENDENT of PASTY CONSIDERATIONS, as I firmly believe the RULE OF THE PEOPLE SHOULD BE SUPREME IN DIRECTING PUBLIC AFFAIRS. I always have upheld the theory that HONEST and JUST LEGISLATION for the benefit of both CAPITAL and LABOUR should be PLACED BEFORE MERE PARTY CONSIDERATIONS. It is unnecessary for me to refer to the fact that the Citizens have already elected me to tho most Honourable Posts within their power, but I.think I can without egotism claim that I fulfilled all the duties pertaining to my various positions to tho Thorough Satisfaction of both the Ratepayers and Electors of Dunedin. In conclusion, I will repeat the statement with which I concluded most of my Meetings* viz., THAT I EXPECT 'A HEARTY VOTE OF CONFIDENCE TO BE EXPRESSED IN ME AT THE BALLOT BOXES NEXT "WEDNESDAY. ' I am, Ladies and Gentlemen, yours faithfully. ' '_ C 11. CHAPMAN. .?%?
