BANK HOLIDAYS. TO THE EDITOR.

SiE,—lt has long been a puzzle to me why the public allow the allied banks to cause them so much inconvenience .by closing their doors for two or three days at a time when aIT other business places are open. Could anyone imagine such an awkward time as to close the banks for two consecutive days when tha town is full of country people making: largo purchases? It is well-known, too, that a number of " spielers " visit the city in such times as the present, and it is a cause of worry to shopkeepers having to keep large sums of money by them, and until it can be deposited in the bank.

To many country people it is a special source of annoyance in another way, as they draw1 cheques from various tradespeople for goods supplied previous to coming to town, and depend on cashing these cheques at the bank iv order to meet expenses while in town. In another way, and it is not the first time it has happened specially awkward this week as it" was tho 'Frisco mail week, and I learn that several people who purposed sending Home drafts forgot, or did not learn, that the banks were to be closed, and have thus had to delay their correspondence in -consequence It strikes me that this is a question for consideration by the committee of the Chambfiot Commerce, and I sincerely hope they will take it up.—l am, etc., . .BRONCHITIS is a complaint that is especially prevalent during the winter season, more particularly with those who are obliged to lead an open-air life. A few doses o£ TUSSICURA •will afford relief.
