The regular ineeling of the High1 Schools Governors' .was ...held yesterday! afternoon, there~ being present—Dr Brown (chairman), the Rev. P. B. Fraser.Dr .Shand, Messrs.-"!". R. Sinclair, J. M. Gallaway, and- G. G. Russell. .An apology was" received for the absence of Mr-W. Swan.The Treasurer reported- having -gone! through accounts and salaries -for October, amounting to £462 12s 9d.—Passed for payment. , - Vl The bank books laid upon the table showed a credit balance of £44/ 13s lOd, after'allowing for the payment of the accounts and salaries. - •» ■ 7 , It was decided to appoint-. Mr A. G. C. 1 Miller as assistant master k: the Boys' Jtugli I School during the absence of Mr Mungo Watson, who has "received six months' le'ave-of absence. ■ „•• Aletter was received from Mr J. D. Marks' applying for the final payment of the Gray Russell scholarship, and thanking Mr xtussell for his liberality in giving the scholarship and the board for awarding, it.—The amount—namely, £20—was passed for payment, the scholarship to be advertised in due course. i "A letter was received from the fedy principal of the Girls' High School," reporting that: the annual school sports were held on the 20th ult., when between 500 and 600. were present. Also that the gymnastic class was now open to outside pupils on payment of a fee of 28s per term. The lady principal recommended' that, the morning class . be> charged £3 per term for next year, to.include gymnastics and drawing; also that the hour for commencing school be changed from 9.30 a.m. to 9 a.m., and the closing hour changed to 3.30 p.m. instead of 4- o'clock,.as at present.—The recommendation, as t<s the fee lor the morning class was agreed to;. consideration of- the change of hours was deferred. • • . , , A letter was received from Mr N. Moloneyapplying, for a lease of 4 acres, excluded from' Run,2ose, Sock and Pillar .—lt was. resolved to grant the lease from year to year.
