SHELLING THE FREE STATERS. CAPETOWN, November 6. (Received Nov. 7, at 1 a.m.) By means of a. pigeon' express, General White informed General Buller that the 69th Battery oh Thursday effectually shelled the Free State Laager on Briter's Hill without loss, while the sth Lancers, with the Imperial Light Horse, and Natal Voltinteers engaged the enemy for several hours on Friday to the south-west of ITadysmith with slight loss.
