Drunkenness.—A first offender was fined ss, or 2-4 hours' imwrisonment.f—The case of Benjamin Wise, who was defended by Mr D. D. Macdonald, was adjourned to next morning, AVise being liberated on his recognisance of £5. Prohibition Order.—A prohibition order was granted against Robert Wilson, of St. David street, to apply to the Dunedin Licensing District. The application was made by Mr A. S. Adams.

Youthful House-breakers. — Three youthsnamed William Findlay, Hugh Findlay, ■ and Thomas Hannan—were charged that on the 22nd inst., at Duricdin, they were found, by day, in the possession of house-breaking implements—to wit, a " jemmy "—with intent, to commit a crime. They were further charged with having, about the 17th inst., at High street,, broken and entered the dwelling house of James William Nimmo, and with stealing therefrom £G, and a purse. Valued at 3s 6d; also with having, about, the 3rd inst., at South Dunedm,. broken and entered the dwelling house of William Eowe, and stolen .€22 10s, and a dozen cigars, valued at 12s.—Sub-inspector Kiely said the police were not prepared to go on with the cases, and he asked for a remand for eight clear days.—Mr Solomon, who appeared for tho Findlays, consented, and mentioned that Mr Hanlon, who appeared for Hannan, also consented.—The cases were remanded to the Ist August, each accused being admitted to bail, himself in £50, and two sureties of £50, or one of £100.
