THE POISONING OF SMALL BIRDS. TO THE EDITOR.

Sib, —Can anyone inform me whether tho poisoning of small birds, as proposed by the farmers at the Taieri Council, will lead to the death of .our native birds—the bellbird, tui, etc.? That would be a pity indeed. Is there no way of securing the destruction of only the birds that do the mischief to the farmers? The native birds are harmless, I believe.—l am, etc.,

T. Talbot.
