In an article dealing -With the Pacific cable question, The Times says-that'-the opening of the western route would be less prejudicial to the eastern route than is popularly supposed. Doubtless there will be many cables laid across the Pacific before long, and an all-British one should lead, and ought to be begun this year, hence the necessity of waiving minor differences and accepting joint responsibility.
