In the House of Commons a motion by Sir Henry fowler is favour of disallowing Indian countervailing duplies on bounty-fed imported sugar was rejected by 293 to 152 Lord George Hamilton, Secretary of State for India, said it would be impossible to refuse India a means, of defence.
