Bress Association-By Telegraph-Copyrigh
LONDON, June 16. In the House of Commons a motion by Sir Henry fowler is favour of disallowing Indian countervailing duplies on bounty-fed imported sugar was rejected by 293 to 152 Lord George Hamilton, Secretary of State for India, said it would be impossible to refuse India a means, of defence. In certain circumstances Britain would herself adopt the ..arne means. Mr Chamberlain said that countervailing bounties by the imposition of duties was not a violation of Freetrade, as countervailing duties were a matter of expediency.
