There was a large attendance of householders, and a very strong committee was formed tc carry out tho
necessary work. A special committee was appointed to arrange for a' series of winter concerts, which proved a groat attraction, and, wore very well patronised. The committee desire to thank all those ladies and gentlemen who came forward—some from a great distance-—to make these concerts the success they were. .The committee havo to the credit of the gymnasium fund tho sum of £143 17s Dd and a, quantity of goods' for tale. Tho committee regret that their efforts were not successful in making arrangements with the school staff to-establish a penny savings bank in connection with the school.
Tho first assistant, Mr Macdonald, resigned his position, and Mr C. Smeaton was appointed in Ilia ' stead. The - committee havo every reason to believe the selection a wise one.
