FOG SIGNALS.

WELLINGTON, April 19.

A memorandum lias been issued from the Marine department to masters of vessels asking for information respecting the utility of the fog signal at I'encarrow Mead. It requests masters of vessels who enter and leave Wellington Harbour or are oii' the entrance during foggy weather when tho signal is working to report to the department or collector of customs at Wellington afler hearing it, stating their position when it was heard, their distance from the lighthouse, the times at whic; the explosion was heard, and the direction and force of the wind, and generally their opinions as to its utility as a guide to captains.
