A lad of 15 years, who did not merely enjoy Hie ennobling sobriquet of " Lord Nelson," but was actually christened so, and whose ambition had evidently been fired by studiously perusing the history of his immortal namesake, made application at one of; tho coastguard stations to be allowed to join the navy. , ::
After his height, chest measurement, eyes, etc.,'.had been tested,, he was taken before the chief officer; when tho following dialogue ensued:— ■ •■
Chiof Officer—" Well; what's your name?" Boy (producing his. birth certificate)—" Lord Nelson, sir." .
Tho'chief officer, with a look of incredulous astonishment.whilst examining the paper, further inquired of the lad as to what branch of the service he wished to belong—artificer or seaman? ; ■ >■■ >
Boy (timidly)—" Neither, sir. If you have no objection, sir, I should like to join as an admiral." . , '
