FRIENDLY SOCIETY.

"Friends of temperance, welc.ine here/ Krai' the feeling which prevailed at Tuesday's meeting of the, Pioneer of Dunedin Lodge, No 2, ■ f.0.G.T., when the lodgeroom was crowded with Templars from near and far. Bro. D. Cameron, P.C.T., presided. Official visits were received from Lily of Valley Lodge, No. 142 (Bro. H. H. Morrison, C.T.), and Hope Of Caversham, No. 128 (Bro. B. South, C.T.), who; attended in good numbers, and were heirtily' welcomed. A hearty and fraternal Welcome was accorded to the Grand Lodge representatives; among whom were Bro. Ritchie (Cromwell),Bro. Campbell (Port Chalmers), Sis. Thompson (Napier), Bro. H. Sweeney (Invercargill),- Bro.. Miller (Nightcaps), Sis. M. Bell (Woodside), and nearly all the Dunedin representatives.Each one spoke a few words, and conveyed greetings from their respective lodges. • Satisfaction was expressed at-the re-election, of Bros. D. C .Cameron, C. J. Thorn, and Sis. Cameron' as Grand Lodge officers. Refreshments, in abundance, were provided by the Pioneer sisters. Harmony was contributed by Sis. E. Simpson (piano solo), Bros. Parkes, Stubbs, and Sweeney, Sis. Clark, and Martin (Songs), Bro. B. A. de Latour (piano solo), and Bro. Mills (recitation). Bro. de Latour acted as. accompanist. Next District Lodge meeting in Alliance' Lodge room next week was announced. The usual vote of thanks to visitors was duly responded.to, and a very'successful and profitable meeting was closed by all joining in- singing "Auld Lang Syne," and usual closing ceremonies by P.C.T.
