.MUTUAL LJFE ASSOCIATION OF ■ AUSTRALASIA.
, Last year,, in acknowledging the receipt of- tho report and balance sheet of the Mutual Life Association of Australasia,' sent us by Mr F. E. Brittain. the district secretary, we stated that " with the splendid tables and terms offered the association should be able to show in 1898 even a greater increase.". .We are pleased to see our expectations fully realised. In all departments a. substantial increase is shown, and there is hi reduction in the expense rate. The total policies., in. force, now amount to £4,919,561-, and the amount added to the funds was £67,410. The rate -of intere^i- rculised is nearly 4-i per cent., and, considering tho great cai-o in selecting investments, this is most satisfactory. There are practically no ftf interest, tho amount under this beading being too small to bo worth mentioning, which speaks volumes for the safety of tho investments. At tho end of this year a five-yearly bonus. will be declared, which no: dotibfcwill be gratifying to the members of this popular company.
