The Oamaru Mail reports that at Reid - ston on Saturday,Stewart Maxwell, about 11, years of age,; a, foster son of Mr and Mrs Rawson, ,of Reidston, lost his life. The boy, in company witlv a number of others,, was bathing-'in the Kakanui, when he got out; of ■ his, depth. His companions ran for "assistance, arid Mr R. Mitchell, near whose place the fatality occurred, went to the rescue, and got the little fellow out alive, but he died shortly after.
