THE LIQUOR QUESTION.
(Pee United Press Association.)
CHRISTCHURCH, October 25.
The chief feature of public interest which came before the synod yesterday was the report of the commission on the Gothenburg and other systems for the control of the sale of intoxicating liquors. The first motion was merely approving of the report and providing for its Circulation, but as the debate proceeded the feeling grew that something more defiiufce should be attempted, and eventually it was resolved on a division to recommend the formation of a Public House Reform League, to educate opinion on the sale-without-private-proflt principle, and to encourage the initiation of public houses of refreshment on the lines suggested iv the repo2*t of the commissioners.
