(Received Sept. 24, at 10 a.m.) A difficulty in arranging reciprocal trade relations between America and Canada is proving the greatest bar to the successful issue of the Conference in Quebec between tho Canadian and American Commission. ATTEMPT TO WRECK A TRAIN. Two further attempts to wreck trains in England have been frustrated.

The wheat crop is estimated at 12,300,000 hectolitres. The importation of. wheat will not be necessary.

ARRESTED ON SUSPICION. MELBOURNE, September 24.
(Received Sept. 24, at 9^30 a.m.) A body found in a sack at Strathmerton has been identified as that of a farm hand named Mathews, who was recently employed at Kilinore. A man named Jackson, who was found lying on the road near Kihnore in a dazed condition, has been arrested on suspicion.
EXPLOSION IN A MINE.
Two miners named Stanley and Fredericks were blown to pieces by an explosion in the New Chum mine, Bendigo.
A SERIES OF COLLISIONS.
September 25. (Received Sept. 25, at 5 p.m.)
Tho steamer Arawatta collided with the China steamer Ching Fu in the Yarra. The latter was struck amidships and was considerably damaged. " The Arawatta then ran into a lighter, and also carried away portion of the wharf.

(Received Sept. 24, at 9.35 a.m.) Potatoes are easing, and are quoted at from £7 5s to £7 10s.
