TO THE EBITOR. Sib, —Readers of this morning's Timei matt have been charmed with Professor Benham'i narration. Will the qpurteous profeisor kindly go a little farther. A very long time baa i elapsed between thfi captures; all of which being the female bird, prompts asking : Where ; is the male P or does the female—assuming th« | male to be eitiDCt —lire to a great age. In the ! long ago the writer has of tea heard the old | West Coast Sound* whalers talk about catchiof these peculiar swamp hens. —I am, be., Duntdin, August 23. Thoughtful.
