GENERAL ASSEMBLY.
LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL. WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 17. .The Council met at 2.30. * FIRST READING. The following bills were read a first time: — Bank of New Zealand and Banking Act Amendment, Government Advances to Settlers Amendment,' Municipal Franchise Reform. Shearers' Accommodation, and Water Supply Amendment. ADJOURNMENT. The Hon. W. C. WALKER moved the adjournment of the Council till next day in consequence of the want-of-confidence debate oroceeding in the Lower House. The Council adjourned at 2.45.
