i Nelson, May 13. Before the commission to-day the evidence, of Mr Calder (chief postmaster) wae takeu in regard to the case ci Constable Jeffries to be heard at Blenheim. The Rev. Mr Gray (Baptist) alleged that Sunday trading was very prevalent in Nelson, and said that 27 men had been seen to enter one hetel last Sunday. He thought the police could do more to enforce the law if they tried. No evidence was taken on this matter, Mr Gray merely wishing to contradict the statement by Sergeant M'Cardle that the law was strictly enforced. The commission leave fer Picton this afternoon.
