Wellington, April 16. £he Conference of Trades and Labour Councils resolved that casual hands employed by the Government be paid the union rates recognised by the districb in whioh they are employed. The Undesirable Immigrants Bill was struck of? the order paper, the conference having dealt with the matter in another way" It was resolved that it be a recommendation to the various councils to consider the federation of labour bodies en similar lines to that existing in New South Wales, & levy to be mads On ruetnbecs for expenses. It was decided that conferences be held alternately iv the North and South Islands, *ud that the next be held at Christchurch. It was resolved to forward the conference suggestions to the Premier by letter. . The conference has practically closed.
