London, February 25—It is expected that the cargo of the Mataura, wrecked near the Magellan Strait, will be saved. Salvage operations have been resumed. - <■■ ■ — THE LOSS OF THE MINOKA.. Newcastle, February 26.—The Marine Board found* that the foundering of the Minora was probably caused by a heavy sea bursting the batches. They exonerated the captain of all blame. It was decided to forward a letter to the captain of the Tangier asking him to explain his alleged refusal to lower 3. boat, and his action in leaving the jastaways, 4, ■ ' The barque Charles Racine commenced discharging cargo at the Victoria wharf on Saturday ; it was coming out in splendid order. The schooner Isabella Anderson left the Jetty street wharf on Saturday afternoon for Kaipara, via Oamaru. The Government steamer Tutanekai will leave Dunedin to-day for the north. The ship Canterbury put out the last of her inward cargo at the Victoria wharf on Saturday. The work of dredging off the Victoria wharf is rapidly progressing. The dredge 222 has taken »way live'full loads of spoil this week. This is something like work, and will greatly, improve t-Us navigation of the upper waters of the harbour. The s.s. Rotomahana was floated out of the graving dock on .Saturday morning, and left for Wellington direct at 6.30 a.m. yesterday. The s.s. Westralia. from Sydney, via the East Coast ports, arrived at Dunedin at 7.45 a.m. I yesterday. She left Sydney on the 16th inst. and j arrived at Auckland on the 20th.
