RAILWAY WORKSHOPS.

The annual excursion and picnic in connection I with the workshops eventuated at Evansdale on i Thursday. The scene, of operations was a very I suitable paddock kindly lent for the occasion by i Mr Rogen, who had spared no pains in providing i for the comfort and enjoyment of the pleasure- ; seekers, of whom there were about 700. The : weather was all thaf could be desired, while the | unusual glow noticeable on several faces showed ; that the sun had'not been sparing with Ids beams | Great interest was displayed in the various items I supplied by the Sports Committee, the children ! being allotted a, special course of their own on i which to decide their contests and receive their I numerous prizes. .The Dunedin Professional Bund discoursed a lengthy and varied programms of music, contributing a great extent to the suci cess of the day's-outinsj. A start for home was made at 6.25 p.m., the excursionists reaching Dunedin without mishap at dusk, all havin" thoroughly enjoyed themselves. WERTHEIM AGISNCY.

The employees of Mr Lochhead's Wertheim isew-ii.-K i.iachme Agency held their annual picnic at ItMilcy last Wednesday. The weather was splendid, and a number of races were run off ounng tns afternoon under the management of Mr A orris. The employees and their friends were the gueuts of Mr Lochhead, everything— prizes aud railway fares included-being supplied by him, and the fortunate winner of the Agency Handicap received a silk banner from the bands ot Miss X J hompson.
