OUR VOLUNTEERS.

The Dunedin Engineers held a parade for infantry drill on Wednesday evening, when the company was taken outside and exercised by the various officers. At the conclusion of the drill the officer-commanding stated (bat although the resuit of the annual volley firing had noii been officially announced, it was understood that the corps had secured the first prize. The Shooting Committee has selected, the following team to fire in the Ladies' Challenge Shield competition on Saturday next, viz.:— Captain Barclay, Sergeant Beadle, Lancesergeant Tonkin, Corporal Midsrley, Engineer Power ; emergency—Engineer Didhatn. Oa the same date the first of a series of competitions open to second cliss shots will be lited for Mr A. Burt's gold medal and the Junior Champion Cup.
