Major Somtnerville, chairman of the New Zealand Rifle Association, le'it for Oamaru to-day to arrange for the annual meeting, which opens on the 10th March. One of the most interesting matches will be that for ladies, for which entries are coming in freely, and there are a large number of northern competitors. The wives of two champions from the north will be among the competitors. The ammunition will be of the best. Major Somnifrville has arranged for a supply of December, 1897, coloni&l ammunition, aud if this proves defective he has the alternative of Victorian ammunition.
