OLD IDENTITIES AND THE JUBILEE.
TO THE EDITOE. Sis,—l was pleased to see "An Old Identity's" letter in your issue . of this morning. I would suggest one alteration in ordec to bring abous. a larger field— viz., that the committee have two bicycle races—one for those who arrived or were born in Ofcago before 1850, and the'"other for old identities who arrived or were born here before 1858. I shall ba glad to subscribe one guinea towards purchasing bicfc'.es for the above races, and I feel sure that there are 50 others who wi!l do likewise. These races will draw thousands or tens of thousands. I enclose my card in case it should be of assistance to '.'An Old Idantity."—l am, &c, Dunedin, February 21. Bbenecia.
TO THE EDITOR. Sir,—l see that arrangements are being mads by the Jubilee Committee for the reeeptiou and entertainment of the old identities arriving in Otago before 1858, but I see no recognition of those born here prior to that date. Surely they are entitled to some recognition aud place in the procession. Supposing the descendants of those arriving by the first three ships—the John Wickliffe, the Philip L*iog, aud the Blundell'(arriving six months later)—only were allotted a place in the procession, I believe there would ba a goodly number. If all native-born descendants of those arriving here up to 1858 were included, they would, I am sure, make an exceedingly good show. —I am, ice., .... ... Duuedin, February 24. Blundell.
