The fortnightly meeting of the City Council was J held last night; preseut-The Mayor (Mr E. B. I Cargill), Crs Denniston, Hardy, Dawson, Carroll, j, Swau,; Mouat, Park, Solomon, Haynes, and Miller. , n Cr Chisholm wrote apologising for his unavoid- b iblo absence. j t CORRESPONDENCE. Nimmo wrote protesting against the - fi council's request to pay £15 out of a total cost.of : h £25 for laying a drain in William street.—Re- ' ° ferred to tbe Works Committee to report. I s Inspector Pardy wrote stating tbat instructions I s had been given to the polici to abate the dust tin ' E nuisance as for as possible.—Received. i d Moritzson and Hopkin called attention to the ; "* state of the street at their premises in Crawford ' I and Gordou streets.—Referred to the Works Com- v mittee to r< port. ' • A George Greaves and other property owners in ' r Cumberland street petitioued for,the extension of * a drain above Dundns street.—Referred to the * Works Conimitteo to report. | «3 6. He moved—"That the clause ba referred back to the committee for reconsideration." —Cr Dawson seconded.—Or Solomon said the city by-laws pro- c vided for what the committee, suggested.
