Wagering is almost entirely confined to this pair, 100 to 5 being offered about anything else. ; Staff a and Harry attville are non-accsptors for the Newiaarkeb Handicap, leaving 26 in the x*ce.

A large number of cyclists and others wended their way to the Caledonian ground on Monday flight to witness the fiist trauk race (one mile) by members of. the Railway Cyoling Club. There were 17 entrant*, and it was decided to run the race in two hnats. These resulted as follows:—First heat—D. M'Gregor, 80yds, 1; S. Pringle, 180 yds, 2 ; J. Duncan, 280 yds, 3; time, 2min 25sec. After- a few minutes' interval the fioal w»s run, and resulted in M'Gregor just beating Duncan on the tape, Brooks close up third; time, 2mip 25sec. Tha racing was very interesting, and the spectators appeared to be well plaased with the result. Mr Mayo acted as starter, Mr Forrester judge, Mr Miohaelis lap scorer, and Mr Conn as timekeeper. Eighteen entries have been received for the club's road race on Saturday.
