A meeting of the executWe of the Jubilee Demonstration Committee was held yesterday and attended by Messrs C. Haynes (chairman), G. L. Denniston, A. Leo Smith, P. R. Sargood, J. A. Park, W. To that letter he got no reply. He wrote again oh the subjeob on January 18, and gob a reply, sfcating. thafc his letter; had S.been referred to the Commander of the Forces, who was then in Auckland. Since then he had received no further communication on the. subject. He pointed out,, however, that as his Bjcellency would be in town *t Jubilee time tbe Hussars would be his guard of honour wherever he went, »nd there wonld'aUo be a b»nd ,in attendance.—Several members of the depntatiqn, explained that the delay of the department giving an answer to the request to allow tfae, r to]un!«er« to take part in the psdceedmgfl was moefc nnsafcisfactory, and-was very considerably hindering tbe arrangements of the committee. -- Colonel Webb B aid-he quite realwedthe position and wishes of the deputation and jjwmisfed to telegraphl to the Commander .of the, Forces, who is afe presenS in Wellington,,urging him to reply promptly.— The deputation thanked Colonel Webb and withdrew. , i . , ; ,
