BLUESKIN SHOW.

The thirtieth annual show of the Blueskin Agricultural snd Pastoral Society was held »t Waitati on Monday. The attendance w»8 not so good as usual, the bitterly cold weather which prevailed all day no doubt keeping many from visiting the show ground. Probably the alteration iv the date of the show from the time at which it is usually held also had something to do with the diminished attendance. There ■ware altogether 247 entries as against 309 at the previous show, the failing off beiog chiefly in cattle. The display of Ayrshire stock was not nearly to large as last year, there beiog ! only 51 entries as against 74- at the previous i show. Tee quality of the exhibits ou the whole ! wae, however, very fair, while seme of the j animnls were decidedly good specimens of their I breed. The bsst classes were the two-year-old | dry heifers aud the cows in milk; the aged, I two-year-old, and yearling bulls also being very | good classes. Mr P. Ireland and Mrs K. B. I Ferguson were the principal prize-takers—the j former carrying ofi no less than six first prizes, ' including the chanspioD prize for the best Ayrshire cow on the ground. The tirovincia!-bred cattle were represented by 22 entries, or 11 less than there were last year. Taking them all round they were an ordinary lot lof cattle, with the exception of the cows in j milk, which were remarkably good specimens. There we;e only four animals of the Jersey breed, which included a good bull ; while of shorthorns there was but one solitary reprej seatative. Draught horses were rather more ! numerous than Jaufc year, there beinsr 27 entries i altogether. A few very fair animah were cxi hibited amoßg the number. Of thoroughbreds | there were only eight, but coachers aud hacks i were more numerous thsn last year, there i being in ail 64 eutries. Several good serviceable hacks were exhibited, and one or two nice br.ggy horses. Only two collie dogs were enter sd for competition, and the judge considered that neither of them was worthy of a ; prize. Mr F. Rogen, however, forwarded three ' line collies for exhibition only. In the poultry 1 section of the show, in which there were 12 I entries, Mr J, M'Ghie took a special prize for i t'ne best pair of fowls in the show with a couple ;of fine Spanish fowls. The show of dairy pro- ! duce was not so large as that of last year, there being in all. 40 entries. The quality of the latter, taking it all through, was very fair, and some of it was very good, there being only one really bad exhibit. The Massey-Harris Company were the only exhibitor* of agricultural implements. They showed a reaper and binder, a hay rake, a Brantford mower, 'two scufflers, and a Msssey-Harris bicycle. Mr J. Barnes exhibited a dogcarr, and P. Diamond a couple of springcarts. The following is. the prize hsfc: ~ ; CATTLK. -.''•; AY-RSHIRE. Judges : Messrs N. Fleming (Oamaru), W. Paul (Palmerston), and C.
