Considerable adverse comment is mafle respecting the action of the Minister for Agriculture in observing secrecy in conneotion with the supply of frozen meat to Ruseia. It is considered that he should at least have first consulted the military authorities.
The military commandant, however, sees no objection. Russia must be considered a friendly Power, and the Government were only acting as commercial agents in extending the trade of the colony.
The Russian Consul is surprised that he had received no communication on the matter. He doubts whether it is the Russian Government who are acting. More probablj some enterprising private agent is negotiating for supplies of .meat.
