THE BRUNER DISASTER.

To-day was observed as a general holiday in commemoration of tha Bruncer disaster. Many people visited the large grave in which most of the victims were buried. The grave was literally covered with wreatha. , Hokitika, March 23. In the Supreme Court the case arising out of the Brunuer mine accident. was commenced to-day. The case is that of Geoghegan against the Grejmonth and Point Elizabeth Cosl Company, damages £1000 for the loss of a son in tho Brunner disaster 12 months »go. Mr Je!!icce / appeared ior plaintiff, and Mr Gully and Mr Find'ay for defendants. Mr Jellicos opened with an address luting two hoars, snd at iis conclusion ESr GuUy raised a nonsuit point that the company were not the proper defendants, and also asked the judge to request plaintiff to elect under which statute he claimed. Legal argument ensued, lasting &H day. The jadge gives his decision in the morning.
In a recent letter to the manufacturers Mr W. F, Benjamin, editor of the Spectator, Bushford, N.Y., saysi "It may be a pleasure to you to know the high esteem in which Chamberlain's medicines are held by tha people of your own Stste, where they must be best know.
