Mr Haggitt appeared to prosecute, and Mr Solomon for the defence. —All witnesses were ordered out of court.—Douglas Harris Hastings, inspector of fisherits, said he examined fish brought up by the s.s. Onslow on March 11, and found some of them slightly unner-SVin in leegth. The fish were just newly caught, and some of them were alive. Witness took roc-session of the undersized fish and measured them in the presence of a bystander name! Dillon. ' Witness, then went up the street with irfll m and measured azain in the presence of Constable Hickey.— Thomas Dillon stated that he was on the wharf alongside of the s.s. Onslow at about 9.15 a.m. on Marcii 11. ■ Witness sated that he measured three fish, and found one to measure SJin, and the other two 3Jin —Further evidence was also given, after which his Worship dismissed the case, saying that it was not proved that the fish were in defendant's possession. John Ueid was similarly charged.—The defence set up was that the fish had shrunk.—After couskierable evidence, j the case was dismissed.
