THE POTTER-BELLEW SEASON.
After a brilliant season of 11 nights at Christchurch, which, in spite of numerous requests to extend, had to terminate last night to keep faith with the public of this city, ]and during which 10 of the strongest piays of the* English stage were produced necessitating great strain and great labpur. Mrs Potter, Mr Eellew, and AVilliamson and Musgroves Dramatic Company, which acts as their support, will arrive here to-morrow moraine per Rotomahana, and will open their 12 nights season at the Princess Theatre on Monday evening. The forthcoming season, which also promises to equal in brilliancy, both artistically and financially, that of the northern city, will also be one of arduous labour.- We are promised 12 pieces in 12 nights —plays that ordinary organisations may not even attempt, the pearls of inghsh and French literature. The season will commence with Sardou's famous tragedy "La losca, written specially for Sara Bernhardt and it is cHimed that, excepting the "divine Sara" there is no* one at present on the stage who could ??, ye-a,?,etter "presentation-of the tragic r6le of Mona losca than Mrs Potter. "La Tosca" will be succeeded on Tuesday by the beautiful drama -borget-nie-iNot," which has not been seen h»re for many a day. On Cup night Sheridan's brilliant comcoy, "The School for Scandal," will be stagen. The company specially selected to sunport Mrs Potter and Mr Kellew includes the kest nramatic artists now in the colonies. It includes Messrs J. F. Cathcart, Oily Deering. W J Montgomery, Cyril Keightley, Chas. BerVeley Kdwin Kelly, T. Middleton. P. Silva. J. Morris A. Denham, Orlando Daly, Mrs AValter H!ll Misses Lynda Raymond, Pollie Emery, Lena Jirascb, Maggie Ford, Bortha Caldwell, Nellie Ginson. Inez Fortescue, auA others. Scenery and costumes are identical with the Australian productions, and of the usual lavish style of Messrs Williamson-and Musgrovt'a attractions. There will be late trams to all the suburbs throughout the season.
