The North Otago Times says that although the ixpectations of farmers in some parts of the district are not being realised a.3 to the crop yields, it 'uust not be assumed that they are paor yields, joine farmers expected 40 and 50 bushels to the acre, and now find that the mill has reduced it to ',;() bushels. But even 30 bushels is a capital yield, and in conic places the yield is much more. Maerewhenua has given SO bushels, but it has had less rain than other places. Mr Stewart Holmes, of Kakanui, has a field of wheat which
practical men say will give 50 bushels to the acre. Eat even this estimated Urge yield is eclipsed by that of Mr C. Faulkner, of the Waihao, who this year expects to lift 60 bushels to the acre. Mr Menlove has about 2500 acres in wheat this year, and his yield will be a capital one. He expects to finish cutting in a-day or two. A Waiwera correspondent writes that the recent wet and stormy weather has considerably retarded the hay threshing in that district. Some heavy crops have been threshed, going as high its 70 bushels to the acre.
