import market during the past week has been very fair. The tone ot the'market is very hopeful; values generally are firm with an upward tendency, and altogether prospects are brightening. The country trade has been very good during the week, more so than the town trade, but the former is a little in advance of the latter in laying in supplies for Christinas requirements. As to be expected, there is a considerable business doing in fruits, an'fi holders have no difficulty whatever in doing business at their quotations, which; are: For ciifftthts, 4d.per.lb: sultanas, s}d per lb; and valencias, s|d' per lb. Stocks have been replenished by transhipnient3 via Australia, as well as by direct shipments by the Matatua. But notwithstanding these, supI plies on hand are not by any means heavy, and the market is consequently quite.firm.
