CRICKET.

THE AUSTRALIAN CRICKETERS.

New Yobk, October 11. The Chicago team were disposed of for 93 runs, M'Kibbin capturing four wickets in his last two overs. Sydney, October 12.. . The secretary of the Cricket Council baa received a letter from Mr Musgtove which throws little fresh light on the dispute, but rather confirms tbe weakness of the position taken up. He says tbat the action of the council in ordering the team back came »b a surprise, but, on the other hand, it is difficult to sea where the surprise comes in, as previous to the team's departure be was given a distinct notification by the chairman of the council of the motion passed and duly minuted to the effect that the team mnst disband by November 30, Mr Musgrove argues that the team assumed financial responsibility, against which it is urged that the team were very prompt to recognise tbe authority of the council when finding themselves short of money at Adelaide. They than wired for some, and the Sydney Cricket Ground and Melbourne Club advanced £300. This was repaid, but had the tour been a failure it is not at all likely that either tha manager or the team would hare borne ths brunt of the liability.
