We have given a very extended solution of this problem for the benefit, of young ulayers, who will do well to note the different points. In particular we would draw attention to the difference in the strength of the king locatrd on square 1, as in note («), and when the same piece is placed on square 0. »s iu variations 1; 8, and 3, where BUck wins; whilst on square 1, as ip note («), White has sufficient strength of position to draw.
