CHARITABLE AID BOARD.

The ordinary monthly meeting of the Committee of the Charitable Aid Board was held on Thursday afternoon, and attended by Messrs J. Robin (chairman), H. Gourley, J. Green, M.H.R., .0. Fisher, 3. Morgan, P. M'Gregor, H. Clark, W. Snow, and P. Miller.

The Acting-secretary (Mr 3. G. Patterson) read a letter from Mr Peter Black, the late secretary to the Charitable Aid and Hospital Boards, resigning his position owing to ill-health. ■Qn the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Mr Clauk, the resignation was accepted. The Chaiuman stated that as the aunual meeting waV"approaching,' and the valuations were required to. be prepiired aqd^ether matters that .cpuld not be delayed required attention, lie had appointed Messrs Burton and Patterson as acting secretaries. These gentlemen had had a very busy week, and it was for the committee to say Svhether their services would be retained until a secretary was formally appointed. jMr Miller said that he would move, in connection with the secretaryship—'-'That phe chairman call a special meeting of the board to appoint a secretary."Mr Cr.MtK : When does the board meet? Mr Miller : On Hie 24th April. ' The .Chairman : No. It meets this month.

The Hospital Board then met, and the requisition of the Hospital Trustees, amounting to £iSO, was passed.
