AGRICULTURAL STATISTICS.
Wellington, Maroh 5. The agricultural statistics for Otago and Southland are:—
Area sown in wheat, 47,905 acres; quantity on hand, 62,753 bushels. Area sown in oats, 197,278 aores; quantity on hand, 135,811 bushels. Ares, sown in barley, 12,990 aores ; quantity on hand, 5912 bushels. The other returns are nob yet obtained.
The total area laid down in wheat this season in New Zealand is returned at 252,956 acres, expected to yield 5,911,929 bushels. The enaHtity on hand is stated as ffiEMK bushels.
The quantity required in the colony is »,930,500 buehels, which leavei about a million and a-half buahels available for export. The Agricultural department is now engaged in taking the threshing returns, but the records of the actual yield wili cot be available till the end of the month. '
