FRIENDLY SOCIETIES.
The fortnightly seision of tbe Star of Freedom Lodge, 1.0. G.T., was held in thel.O.O.F. Hall, Rosiyn, last Wednesday evening ; Bro. M. Thomson, C.T., in the chair. After the opening ceremony, the chair wai vacated in favour of Bro. R. N. Adams, G.C.T,, who attended officially. It bsing sistera' surprise night, a large • number of members were present. The lodge was also favoured with official visits from tbe Lily of the Valley and sister lodges. Business being adjourned, a very enjoyable evening was spent. Songs were ably rendered by Sisters Sconilar, Martin, Buchanan, and Bro. Wilkinson. An amusing dialogue, "How to Choose a Husbjud," by 13 sisters 6f the lodge was enthusiastically receiyed. Tea and rt-.freshments were then handed round by the sisters. A short address hy G.C.T. Bro. R. N. Adams re the Prohibition League, the coming election, and advico thereon was duly appreciated. Cordial votes of thanks to'the visitors and the sisters of the lodge brought a very successful meeting to a close. The fortnightly meeting of the Loyal Dnnedin Lodge, M.U.1.0.0.F., was held in the lodge room, George street, on Thursday evening ; N.G. Bro. Fulton presiding. There was a large atteudance of members and visitors. Nominations were received for the office of delegates to the district meeting. D.R.G M. Bra. Clark, on behalf of thfi Loyal Hand and Heart Lodge, and P.G Bro. Tomkins, on behalf of tha Loyal Prince of Wales Lodge, responded to tbe second toast, and D.P.G.M. Bro. Clark and P.P.G.M. Bro. Chapman, on behalf of the district, responded to the third toast of the evening. Rrceipts, £123 15s lid. It was decided to pay an official visit to Mosgiel this evening, leaving Dunedin railway station at 6.15 o'clock by drag.
