CITY COUNCIL REPORDTS.
The reports of the committees of the City Council to be laid before the council meeting this evening are as follow : —
gas committee!
The Gas Committee report having passed for payment paysheets and accounts amounting to £617 ls 2d. 5
The Water Committee report (1) having instructed the city surveyor to have two pieces of stone walliug erected at the back of No. 2 water race ; (2) that Messrs J. Duthie and Co.'s tender for carting at schedule prices has been accepted ; (3) that accounts amounting to £122 have been passed for payment.
The Reserves Committee report having instructed the city surveyor upon a number of small application's, and having in consequence of complaints received requested the University Council to cut down the gum trees on the reserve in Castle ancl Albany streets. The finance Committee recommend with reference to ths let'ere. from the Master Printers' Association and Messrs Stone, Son, and Co., as to the annual contract for printing and stationery, that the former decision to invite tenders as usual be adhered to.
The Public Works Committes recommend (1) that Ur James Wh.vte's proposed readjustment of the line of A 'hoi place, fronting sections 41 and 42, blo;:k XXII, bo approved, and that the council take the necessary steps under sections 2:15 and 230. of the Municipal Corporations Act; and (2) that the council adhere to their former decision to offer to refun.i £0 as a portion of the cost of the drain in High street, laid down by Dr Brown, Dr Macdonald, and Mr A. J. Shaw.
The General Commi".tee report (1) having granted MrLog-an Wilson's application for authority to act as nightman within the city, and for use of plant: (2) that the city solicitors report the settlement of the title to the right-of-way leading from the railway to part sections 35 and :i6, bloak V, Lower Kaikorai district, purchased as' an abattoir site, and that the committee had authorised the payment of the balance of the price— £100; (3) that notice has been given to various dairymen of .undry alterations of their premises recommnnded by Mr Cameron, M.R.C.V.S., which are required to be made before the issue of any further license to sell milk ; (3) re Fire Brigade— that David Wilkie's tender at 10.* per alarm for suppljinghoiseand driver at Great King street station during'tbe ensuing year has been accepted; and (5) paysheet-i amounting to £17 ISs 6d have been passed for payment.
