A cool soaking drizzle of rain has fallen since Saturday night. Adelaide, January 18. The storms are causing much interruption to the overland telegraph lines, and have delayed the cable service.

Wellington, January 19. Another violent nor'-west gale passed over Wellington last night. Some little excitement was caused at the openjog performances of Fitzgerald's London CircusJ About 7 o'clook tho wind somewhat lulled, and the proprietors decided to open. Within a brief space of time an ; immense crowd had gathered within the large teut, bnt by 8 o'clock the wind was blowing in heavy gusts; Suddenly a large rent was mnde in tbo roof, and shortly after this the strong quarter poles began to break, nnd the public were requested to leave. Fortunately nothing like a panic occurred, otherwise several must have been injured ;as it was, one woman received a slight scalp wound by a falling pole. , One or two other minor injuries were reported. --.After the tent was cleared tbe canvas was lower-ad, and everything made snug; Steamers arriving report very heavy and thick weather off tho heads, rendering it difficult to pick up the lights.

Mr Paulin telephoned last evening:— " Strong to a gale S.W. to N.W. winds ; rain showers ; .indications stormy; barometer rise."
