■.Drunkenness.—Mary Ann Duff was fined 20s, in default seven days' imprisonment. Resisting the Police. — Bridget Madden was charged with drunkenness and with resisting Constable Scully in the execution of his duty.— She wan convicted on each offouce and sentenced in each instance to three months' imprisonment; the sentences to run concurrently. A New Year's Pitoi.ic. — I'ivo boys named James Watt, John Smith, Alexander Clydesdale, George Burgess, and David Wildey were charged with thvowinK stones at Caverabam on New Year's morning.—Mr A. S. Adams appeared for the boy Wutt; aud Mr C. M. Mouat, instructed by Mr Haiilon, for the other boys. — The evidence tendered by the police was to the effect that about 3 o'clock on New.Year's morning the boys throw stones at Alexander Mitchell, in the employ of the Tramway Company, when he Wiis cleaning out the cars. Mitchell admitted that ho throw a stone back at the boys aud turned the hose on < hem—Several witnesses were called, and both counsel contended that there was no evidence to connect their respective clients with the stotiethrowing—His Worship said be had no doubt ; that the whole affair was a Now Year's frolic, and the boys should, perhaps, have not been i brought bafora the court at aIL The charges i ■fould be dismissed.
