ROSLYN BOROUGH COUNCIL.

The ordinary mesting of the Rcslyn Borough Conncil, held last eveaing, was attended by the Mayor (Mr J. LiddeJl) and Crs Begg, Philp, Wedderspoon, Watson, Keamitz, Sim, Miller, Sutherland, and Wiison. B2POKTS. The Works Comnsititee recommended that Mr (Jodhy's application to have the cnlverfc in Church street extended be refused, but that Mr Godby be allowed to put down a crossing from the street iuto his section, under the direction of the inspector. Mr Daviea, the committee reported, had bnen informed that the council had declined to make him any allowance above the price of his contract. It recommended further that the letters from Mr James Crawford and Mr Dodgshuu agreeing to pay half cost of kerbiug in Brucs street be received ; that the plan submitted by Messrs Stout, Moody, and Sim showing the risht-of-ways through the late Mr Daniel Brown's properfciea—viz., sections 7 and past of 8, block j IV, Upper Kaikorai—be approved; that tenders !be invited for the formation of a track along the line of the road through the reserve from the junction of the creeks as far as tho head of. tbe guliy.—The report was adopted. The Finance Committee recommended that Mr AViliiam Patrick's slaughterhouse lit'easa be renewed ; that the treasurer be authorised to sign a cheque for the sum of 2s 6d paid into the Back of New Zealand by the Government in respect uf by-law fines, and that accounts amounting to £81 6s be passed for payment, The bank overdraft stood at £825. I COIiEESPONDENCE. | Mossrs Stout, Mondy, and Sim forwarded plaun of section 7 and parb of 8 block IV.— Dealt with in the Works Committee's report. Kir A. Wanner wrote requesting the council to remove clay on the bank near his property in Church street. —Referred to the Works Committee. Messrs Bathgate aßtt Woodhoase, on behalf o! tho Sinking Fund Commissioners, wrote with regard to' the laud purchased from them by the council. They stated that their clients did not see any reason to depart from their original position that tha borough should take the portion of section 113 cut off by the road. They would delay taking action tHI after the council's meeting, but if no definite reply was then received they would issue a writ.—On the motion of Cr Rbmnitz, seconded by Cr Sim, . it was resolved—"That the council ioforcn Messrs Batbgate »qd Woodbouse, io realy to their communication, that it is prepared to take over the ground as desired by the Sinking Fund Commissiouers, and that Messrs Hsggitt | Bros, and Brent be instructed to prepere the necessary documents to eKeot such transfer.

Cr Patterson was appointed to fill the vacancies on the Works and Finance Committees caused by the election of Sir Liddell as mayor.

It was resolved that a notice board be put up on the reserve road warcing people against cutting live trees, that Constable Miller's attention be drawn to the fact .that some valuable trees bad been destroyed, and that he be requested to take sction.to prevent the recurrence of such wanton destruction.

Or Watson moved the motion of which he had formerly given notice—viz., "That at the next meeting of tha.council the clerk be instructed to lay on the table a list of the several works authorised to bo effected by the council but not yet completed nor commenced, the dates when such works were passed, and the wards in which they were to be done to be specified." ' ■ Cr Wilson seconded the motion, which was carried.
