London, January 3, The Tiroes suggests that the fighting between Dr Jameson's force and the Boera was an accidental, skirmish, and .the surrender voluntary on the part of Dr Jameson, who was willing to yield when he found that tbe Rand did not require the protection of his police. The British South Africa Chartered Company have cabled dissenting from Dr Jameson's invasion. A private telegram from Capetown states that Dr Jameson will be tried by courtmartial, and that the other officers will bo roleased. Before the fighting took place President Kruger issued a manifesto, in which he j promised to submsfc the grievances of the Uitlanders to the Transvaal Parliament if properly requested to do so. A thousand volunteers of all nationalities are being organised in Johannesburg to act as special police. Tne German and French residents in the Transvaal bave cabled to Berlin and Paris respectively asking for protection. A heavy fall in South African stocks and shares has taken place on tbe London market. The ngent of the Transvaal Government is on his way to Berlin to request the enlistment of German officers. He will also place orders for machine guns with German firms. The Times's correspondent wires tbat. at a meeting of 2000 Australians in Johannesburg on Saturday night the proceedicgs were of an orderly character, and it was decided by them not to take any part in the revolution. The Emperor has sent a message to President Kruger congratulating him on the j energetic action taken to restore peace and for preserving tha independency of the Transvaal without appealing to friendly Powers. A HUGE SCHEME TO CRUSH FOREIGNERS. London, January 3. The Pall Mall Gazette believes a huge echerae of President Kruger's is intended to crush the Uitlanders when they are unprepared, and that it is also designed to cripple British interests and limit thair activity. It also considers that the Orange Free State's sympathy with Capetown will ultimately direct the Transvaal trade to Delagoa, the Dutch and German capitalists aiding in this direction.
